Photographer Seeks LBPs in Japan for Photo Project

To all Left Behind Parents living in Japan,

I am currently working on a photo project intended to raise awareness of Japan's sole custody system and show the human side of an issue that many people have little understanding of.

I am seeking Japanese and non-Japanese LBPs to be photo subjects. The project is ongoing and open-ended. It can be viewed at the link below. Please keep in mind that this is a provisional site. Text in both English and Japanese, as well other such info, needs to be added.

When I'm satisfied with the content I intend to start promoting it among the many documentary photo sites across the Web.

I would greatly appreciate hearing from LBP individuals living in Japan, especially in the Tokyo metropolitan area (and Kyoto/Osaka before June 18). Please contact me by email at fph10(at)gol(dot)com

Many thanks for your consideration.

I am interested, especially due to my case has a very unique side to it. The typical scenario of a in-japan separation is the other, ie the non-shin-ken has a major problem changing the status quo. Where as in my case, I have court ordered visitation rights every weekend, since my son was 2yrs old., at our spearation hearing. Now its been a period of 2 years with weekly visits and a very stable well-rounded young boy is the result. Since my ex moved into a poisonous government funded solo-mother accomodation appartment block, her ideas have shifted towards, the "be like the rest", and dont let him see his father anymore. I am a New Zealand citizen, I manage my own English school specializing in small kids, and kindergartens. Ive been in Japan for almost 10 years now. The only issue is I am a bit of a long-haired hippie., and perhaps not that photogenic...

waiting for any response thanks, Myles Taylor

I am 8 weeks into severe parent alienation and would like to contribute in any way I can to raising awareness of these dangers for our children, especially since my (ex)wife is fundamentally unstable. I am in Hadano in Kanagawa, Tokyo 2 days a week. Is your project still going. Hope so. RB

FRIJ recommends you also visit crn japan, who are fighting international abduction to Japan and working to assure children in Japan of meaningful contact with both parents regardless of marital status
